Michael Putland

Michael Putland (1947–2019) was one of the most prolific and influential music photographers of the 20th century. Based in London and later New York, Putland documented an extraordinary era in popular culture, capturing the defining figures of rock, pop, reggae and contemporary music. In the late 1960s, Putland toured with The Rolling Stones in 1973 — the first of many long-standing collaborations. His camera moved effortlessly between backstage intimacy and arena spectacle, producing images that now form an essential visual archive of modern music history.

Limited edition prints are available through Elliott Gallery.
