Lieke Zweekhorst
Lieke Zweekhorst (b. 1993) is a Dutch contemporary photographer based in Delft, The Netherlands. With a professional background in mental health care, she followed her life-long passion for photography, completing her studies in Amsterdam and developing a distinctive, intuitive approach.
Zweekhorst’s work explores the emotional and human connections between subjects, combining intimate portraiture with narrative stills. Her images often evoke feelings of both alienation and connection, reflecting her genuine curiosity and empathetic engagement with the world.
Her award-winning series A Man and His Horse, created on the Gambian coast, captures a poetic encounter between a man and his horse. The images celebrate trust, respect, and intimacy, offering a contemplative perspective on human and animal relationships. Lieke Zweekhorst’s work has been featured in esteemed Dutch and international publications, including Vogue, Het Financieele Dagblad and Het Parool.
