Gered Mankowitz is an internationally acclaimed English photographer whose career spans nearly six decades. Renowned for defining the visual identity of 1960s and 70s music culture, Mankowitz has photographed some of the most iconic figures in modern music history. His landmark 1965 portraits of The Rolling Stones, sessions with Jimi Hendrix, Kate Bush, Elton John, Oasis and many more.
In 1982, his solo exhibition at The Photographers’ Gallery in London became the first UK exhibition dedicated entirely to music photography, breaking all previous attendance records. In 2016 he was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society.
