Doug Hancock
Riders of the Buffalo Nations
Doug Hancock is a documentary photographer and filmmaker whose long-term projects explore identity, heritage, and the intersection of tradition with contemporary life. Commissioned and developed in collaboration with First Nations elders, Riders of the Buffalo Nations documents youth culture among the Oglala Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Blackfeet Nations, Hancock’s work is attuned to questions of cultural identity, marginalisation, generational trauma, and the tension between heritage and modernity.
Limited edition photography prints and publications are available through Elliott Gallery.
