Daniel Mirer

Daniel Mirer is a Brooklyn-born photographer based in San Francisco. In his Indifferent West series, Mirer turns to the mythology of the American Frontier, exploring how the romance of the Wild West persists within the modern landscape. Through wide-open spaces and subtle references to frontier iconography, the work questions nostalgia and contemporary identity.

Mirer’s photographs are held in numerous institutional collections, including Leiden University’s Special Collections, Dallas Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Worcester Art Museum.
