Frank Sinatra by Bob Willoughby
€45.00
Bob Willoughby (1927–2009) was an American photographer and a true pioneer of Hollywood and celebrity photography. Credited with creating the modern motion picture “still”, Willoughby captured iconic actors such as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Audrey Hepburn, and Judy Garland both on and off set. He was the first “outside” photographer hired by Hollywood studios to shoot production stills, inventing tools such as silent blimps and remote-controlled cameras to capture candid moments without disrupting filming.
Willoughby’s work has been widely exhibited and published, with images held in major international collections, including the National Portrait Gallery, London and Washington D.C., the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, MoMA New York, the Tate Collection, London, and the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris.
Limited edition prints are available through Elliott Gallery.
