Artist Talk with Madelon Hooykaas

Thank you all for joining us for our latest Artist Talk with the remarkable Madelon Hooykaas.

It was a pleasure to welcome such a pioneering figure in photography and video art, and to explore her early photographic work together.

The collection features a selection of vintage photographs printed by Hooykaas herself, offering a rare glimpse into Dutch everyday life in the 1960s and 70s — from Rotterdam’s harbour to quiet beach scenes in Scheveningen. These images reveal the beginnings of an artistic journey that would go on to span film, installation, and conceptual work, often shaped by her deep interest in Zen Buddhism and her international collaborations.

If you missed the talk or would simply like to spend more time with these photographs, we warmly invite you to visit the gallery and explore them in person.

We look forward to seeing you again soon!
