Ian Macdonald's work featured on DEADLETTER's debut album
DEADLETTER, the London-based post-punk band, will release their highly anticipated debut album, Hysterical Strength, on September 13th.
We are excited to announce that Ian Macdonald’s stunning work will be featured as the album’s and EP’s cover.
The lead singer of DEADLETTER, Zac Lawrence, reflects on their collaboration with Ian Macdonald, saying:
“Ian Macdonald’s photos perfectly encapsulate the notion of tying together the brutal and the beautiful, a theme that recurs throughout the album. As a creative, I am a firm believer in the fact that there are no bounds to what might be deemed an appropriate subject with which one might express themself and I attempt to convey this belief through my lyricism. This is certainly the case within Ian’s photos; they prove that there is an allure within the everyday, often underappreciated moments of our lives. For something to be grand, it doesn’t always have to be glamorous.
When we were informed there was a potential to not only shoot with Ian, but also use Ian’s photos for the artwork on and inside our debut album, there was no doubt in any of our minds that we’d jump at an opportunity as such. For myself, Alfie, and George, it meant being able to utilise the imagery of a fellow native of the North East, whose photos we’d grown up surrounded by whilst inside Alfie’s home; his dad having always been a huge admirer of Ian’s work, and we are honoured to have been bestowed with such a striking series alongside which we can present the debut album, Hysterical Strength.”
