Elliott Gallery x Republiek Underground: On Vlieland by David van Dartel

For the second time, Elliott Gallery collaborated with Republiek Underground—the gallery space below the chic home interior, fashion and food store at Haarlemmerdijk 87 Amsterdam—presenting the ongoing body of work On Vlieland by the talented David van Dartel.

On Vlieland is a striking series taken on the rugged West Frisian Island in the Wadden Sea, The Netherlands, which van Dartel has visited starting from a young age and continues to visit frequently.

“As long as I can remember, I have visited the little Dutch island of Vlieland. I spent endless summers there with friends. It’s a place where everyone is at ease. We swim, stroll around, and drink—but above all, we reflect on life, and for a little moment, we forget our lives at the other side of the sea. There is no schedule, it’s only us at that moment of time. This time tomorrow, where will we be?”—David van Dartel

The official opening of the exhibition at Republiek Underground will be celebrated on Friday 25th June from 16.00 - 20.00 and Saturday 26th June from 14.00 - 17.00. David van Dartel will be present both days. The exhibition is on display at Republiek until the end of August 2021.
