The seascapes and spectacular sailing images of American photographer Michael Kahn (b. 1960) have been exhibited around the globe.
Growing up spending summers on the coasts of Maine and North Carolina left Kahn spellbound with the sea. His everlasting passion for nature and sailing shortly found a new home in photography when, as a young adult, Kahn began apprenticing at a portrait studio. The magic of the Hasselblad square format cameras and the art of printmaking remain an integral part to Kahn’s photography.
Kahn continues to travel the world with his 1950s medium format camera, capturing the world’s finest boats and the most pristine seascapes.
A devotee of craftsmanship and analog techniques, Kahn produces his own darkroom prints, thanks to decades’ long of experimentation and experience. The Artist’s warmly toned, black and white images alongside his distinctive sense of composition and tonal relationships, result in Michael Kahn’s exquisite photographs with his ‘trademark' of calmness.
Michael Kahn has also published several books that celebrate his love of the sea.
