From the Archive: Elliott Gallery Unveiled

'From the Archive’ showcases the diversity of the twenty four photographers that Elliott Gallery represents. With this exhibition, the first in our beautiful new location, we celebrate our amazingly varied archive. From the early 20th century with photographers such as Jacques Henry Lartigue’s playful document of fun and fashion; through the 1930's and 40's, with the likes of Norman Parkinson (‘The Godfather of Fashion Photography’); onto the 1960's with Duffy, Eric Swayne, Hoppy and Terence Donovan, who all portrayed the ‘swing’ part of the ’swinging 60s’ with celebrity, fashion, music, but also daily life; onto the 70s, 80s and 90s with Michael Putland and David Corio’s legendary music images and Sheila Rock’s iconic portraits of ‘Punk'.  In dramatic contrast are our contemporary artists such as Antoni + Alison, Matthew Murray’s ’Strippers’ alongside his emotive, vast ‘Saddleworth Moor’ landscapes, Jason Oddy’s impressive architectural interiors and Christopher Bucklow’s highly unique etherial portraits.

This exhibition really does promise to have something truly wonderful for everybody!
