In his latest work, Matthew Murray engages in the exploration of traditional printmaking methods, such as Photogravure and Carbon printing.

In a few words, photogravures are photographs that are etched into copper and printed traditionally with ink. The process requires careful preparation and attention to detail. These intricate and labor-intensive processes result to finely detailed prints, with deep shadows, luminous highlights and a rich tonal range.

Matthew’s subject is the infinite and wild landscapes of Wales, accurately capturing plantations, moors, woodlands and more.
